Opal I. Reid Opal Irene Reid age 83, of Mattoon, IL passed away on Sunday January 1, 2012 at Odd-Fellow Rebekah Home, Surrounded by her daughters. Funeral Services honoring her life will begin at 10:00 a.m. Friday January 6, 2012, at Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home, 1200 Wabash Avenue, Mattoon, IL 61938. Pastor Greg Sexton and Pastor Kevin Wolfe will officiate. Interment will be held in Dodge Grove Cemetery, Mattoon, IL. Visitation will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Thursday January 5, 2012 at the funeral home. Opal was born February 22, 1928 in Mt. Pulaski, IL, the daughter of Louis X. and Mary Etta (Victor) Weber. She married Winford "Wimpy" Oliver Reid on June 3, 1950 and he preceded her in death on July 22, 1985. She is survived by her four daughters Sue McKibben and husband Raymond of Mattoon, IL; Cindy Boyer and husband Rick of Lerna, IL; Julie Evilsizer and husband Junior of Mattoon, IL; Mary Jesse and husband Jeff of Arvada, CO. She is also survived by Nine Grandchildren, Six Great-Grandchildren, and Five Great-Great Grandchildren. She is survived by her five siblings W. Albert Weber and wife Dorothy of Mattoon, IL; Cecil R. Weber of Mattoon, IL; Dale Weber of Sullivan, IL; Ellen Louise Throm of Mattoon, IL, and Elsie M. Hill of Bradley, IL. She was preceded in death by her husband, three brothers and one sister. Opal worked at Odd-Fellow Rebekah Home for fifteen years and then as a cashier at Catholic Charities until her retirement. She attended Broadway Christian Church in Mattoon. Opal had a great love for her daughters and family. She lived a simple life; enjoyed playing Bingo, doing word search puzzles and watching Wheel of Fortune.
