Daniel A. Watson Mattoon, IL – Daniel A. Watson, age 61, of Mattoon, IL, passed away at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center 11:42 p.m., Wednesday, January 13, 2010.
A memorial celebration in his honor will begin at 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 18, 2010 at the First United Methodist Church, 1601 Charleston Avenue, Mattoon, IL 61938, with Reverend Ken Hutchens officiating. Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home, 1200 Wabash Avenue, Mattoon, IL, 61938, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Born December 24, 1948 in Maysville, Kentucky, he was the son of David N. and Freeda C. (Preston) Watson. He married Beth Beasley on April 27, 1972, in Kankakee, IL. She survives. Other survivors include his children, Gregory Allan Watson of Avon, IN, Randall David Watson of O’Fallon, MO, and Robert Britian Watson and wife Michelle of Normal, IL; a brother, David Britian Watson and wife Barbara of Fairfield, OH; three grandchildren, Britton Andrew Watson, Darryn Tyler Watson, and Brannigan Kymethie Brooke Watson, all of Avon, IN; and several nieces, nephews, and godchildren. He was preceded in death by both parents.
Mr. Watson attended the First United Methodist Church. He was a hard working and dedicated salesman. He was President of Southwest Little League, a Lincoln Log Cabin volunteer pioneer, member of the Board of Directors of the Coles- Moultrie Electric Cooperative, the Chula Vista Jaycees, South Bay Union School District committee, San Diego area homeless ministries and various church committees and volunteer organizations. Daniel was also a certified Track and Field Official for high school, college, and Olympic trials.
