Robert Lee Chism Robert Lee Chism., 79, of Mattoon, passed away at 3:05 a.m. Saturday, July 3, 2010 at Palm Terrace Nursing Home.
Funeral services celebrating his life will be held at 12:00 Noon on Wednesday July 7, 2010 at the Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral. Interment will follow in Bethel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 am until the time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.
Robert was born February 16, 1931 In Hutton Township, Illinois; the son of Owen and Myra (Dallas) Chism. He is survived by his two sisters, Wilma Parsons of Villa Grove, IL and Freda Janet East of Mattoon, IL. He is also survived by his nieces, Glenda Millsap of Villa Grove, IL; Tonya Willison and husband Keith of Mattoon, IL; Cindy Hagerman and husband Greg of Chesterfield, MO and Kimberly Martin and husband Chris of Oakland, CA. He is survived by his great- nieces and nephews, Josh Millsap, Lacy Millsap, Kiley Willison, Ryan Willison, Marissa Willison, Blake Freeman, Evan Simpson and Roan Martin. Also surviving is sister in law Barbara Chism of Kissimmee, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Samuel Mack Chism.
Robert grew up on a farm north of Lerna and attended school in Lerna. He worked for various area farmers, Mengel Construction and most recently with Rex and Don Trucking as a Truck Driver.
