Mary "Martha" Oye Mary “Martha” Oye age 84, of Mattoon, IL, passed away at 1:42 a.m., Saturday, December 15, 2012, at Heartland Christian Village in Neoga, IL.
The funeral service in her honor will begin at 12:00 Noon, Thursday, December 20, 2012, at First Christian Church, 1600 Wabash Avenue, Mattoon, IL 61938. Pastor Steve Hayes will officiate. Visitation will be held at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the service begins. Interment will follow at Dodge Grove Cemetery. Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home, located at 1200 Wabash Avenue, Mattoon, IL, 61938, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Born April 20, 1928, in Mattoon, Illinois, Martha was the daughter of Jasper and Anna (Schroeder) Patterson. She married Kenneth N. Sanders in November of 1946 in Coles County, IL. He passed away on March 15, 1971. She later married Robert Oye in 1974 in Mattoon, IL. He preceded her in death in June of 1989.
Survivors include three daughters: Pat Uphoff of Mattoon, IL, Barbara “Bobbie” Daily and husband Paul of Mattoon, IL and Pam Hoelscher and husband Stan of Mattoon, IL. Step-daughter Sharon Proue of Dade City,Florida Nine grandchildren; Rob Pierce and wife Abby of Mattoon, IL, Tina Smith of Mattoon, IL, Stan Uphoff and wife Tracey of Mattoon, IL, Bill Uphoff and wife Kim of Mattoon, IL, Kenneth Daily and wife Jamie of Lafayette, IN, Brittany Stanski and husband Aaron of Barrington, IL, Dustin Cooley of Chicago, Derek Cooley of Mattoon, IL and Taylor Cooley of Mattoon, IL. She is also survived by ten great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Linda Pierce; one infant granddaughter, Kari Black; three brothers: Allen, Jim, and Paul Patterson, and three sisters: Marie Sawyer, Della Ames, and Dorothy Patterson.
Martha was a member of First Christian Church of Mattoon, IL. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, crocheting, cooking and traveling. She also enjoyed playing the piano, dancing and listening to music. She cherished spending time with her family and grandchildren.
