Mattoon, IL – June Walk Anderson, age 89, of Charleston, IL, passed away at 2:03 a.m., Monday, July 30, 2012, at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center, Mattoon, IL.

The funeral mass in her honor will begin at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, August 2, 2012 at the Trinity Episcopal Church, 2200 Western Avenue, Mattoon, IL. Father Kenneth Truelove will officiate. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m., until the service begins. Inurnment will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Mattoon, IL. Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home, located at 1200 Wabash Avenue, Mattoon, IL 61938, is assisting the family with arrangements.

The daughter of Ernest L. and Lillie (Miller) Walk, June was born July 14, 1923, in Maple Acres, WV. She married C. Edward Anderson on February 19, 1945. He passed away December 31, 1980. Survivors include their children, Kelly Peterson Veach and husband Bill of Charleston, IL, Susanne Applegate and husband Bill of Charleston, IL, Beverly Cobble and Randy Walker of Mattoon, IL, and Kimberly Anderson and Jon Jallings of Oregon, WI; a sister, Mrs. W.B. (Shirley) Morefield of Richmond, TX; five grandchildren, Justin Peterson and wife Jennifer of Charleston, IL, Tyler Applegate and wife Adrienne of Birmingham, AL, C.J. Applegate and wife Andrea of Charleston, IL, Matthew Cobble and wife Lilliana of Chicago, IL, and Kolin Peterson and wife Shannon of Belleville, IL; and seven great- grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, one sister and an infant daughter.

Mrs. Anderson was a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church of Mattoon, IL, a long time member of the Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center Guild, served Charleston Hospital as both a Pink Lady and a Grey Lady, was a member of the Charleston Country Club, and volunteered at the Charleston Senior Center. She was also an avid bridge player.
