Marvin Eugene Spaulding Marvin Eugene Spaulding, age, 80 of Mattoon passed away on Friday December 7, 2012 at 2:12 p.m., at Odd-Fellow Rebekah Home in Mattoon.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday December 11, 2012 at 2:15 p.m. at Dodge Grove Cemetery in Mattoon with Pastor Steve Hayes officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. at Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home, 1200 Wabash Avenue, Mattoon, IL 61938.
Marvin was born on November 17, 1933, In Mattoon, the son of Homer and Blanche (Craig) Spaulding. He is survived by his brother Gary Spaulding of Rantoul, IL. His Niece Jamie Katz and her family of Mattoon, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Shirley Spivey.
After attending school in Mattoon he worked for the Illinois Central Railroad and retired from its successor, Canadian National Railroad after Forty years of service.
Marvin will be fondly remembered for his love of flowers and the Chicago Cubs baseball team. He also enjoyed railroad history and attending rummage sales and auctions.
